Dave Storm
I have been in love with music since I was very young and in 1969 did my first ever disco
using a couple of decks and a borrowed microphone and amplifier. The disco grew into a very large and professional setup. My DJing was not limited to mobile work, as I worked at a lot of night clubs across the South East. I also volunteered at Wycombe Hospital Radio for a while.
I have been one of the commentators at the Kop Hill Climb for the last 7 years which is great fun. In 2021 I, and many other of the volunteers, were awarded the Queen’s Award
for Voluntary Service (QAVS), which is equivalent to an MBE. This came as a huge surprise
and shows that volunteering does get noticed. I applied to join SMHR and initially helped out on other shows and events.
I am currently presenting the request show on a Thursday evening and enjoy going around
the wards and meeting people and getting their music requests. I have also been inviting
special guests into the studio who have interesting stories to tell and we play records of their
choice.
