Matthew Nash
I first joined SMHR in 1984, and after a spell as a Producer and Ward Visitor/Request Collector, went on to present my first programme, a 30 minute pre-recorded slot. With a couple of short breaks for career reasons, I have been involved at SMHR ever since.
Over the years I have presented both music based and speech based programmes, including various Request Shows. In addition to my programme duties, I have also held many different Management Committee posts, including Committee Member, Programme Controller, and Treasurer, and am also a former Chairman. In those posts, I was heavily involved in, and oversaw, two relocations of the station within the Hospital site, and along with the Station Engineering team, the initial design and creation of our current Studio complex. I have additionally invested many years building and extending our digital music database, and managing the automated station output, which is generated by our state of the art, professional radio playout system.
Today I continue to occupy a seat on the Management Committee, and support the wider Engineering, IT and Programming teams with ongoing maintenance and management of our automated output. I also continue to present a couple of regular weekly programmes, every Sunday lunch-time from 1pm. Please feel free to join me for 60's Sunday or 70's Sunday sometime.
